Trip to Spain, March 2003
Inspired by Maria Rosa Menocal's The Ornament of the World: How Muslims, Jews, and Christians Created a Culture of Tolerance in Medieval Spain, my brother, Pickens, and I planned a trip to Spain that would focus on Andalucia. Starting from Madrid we first traveled the short distance south to Toledo, then continued on to Córdoba, Sevilla, and Granada. In Granada we rented a car and returned to the capital in one long day that took us briefly along the coast, then back northeast through the plains of La Mancha.
